This church was built on the site of a more ancient chapel.

Works attributed to Bernardino di Nanni

The following frescoes [dated by inscription?] in the church are attributed to Bernardino di Nanni dell’ Eugenia:

Pietà with saints (1492)

This fresco in the 2nd bay on the left depicts the Pietà with SS Stephen, Valentine, Bernardino of Siena, Antony [of Padua?] and Sebastian.

Fresco (1505)

  2. the Madonna and Child; and

If the attribution is correct, this is the last known work by this artist.

Giovanni di Pietro, lo Spagna and his workshop executed frescoes for the church in two campaigns (see below):

  1. those in the apse and the Cappella di San Sebastiano (in the 4th bay on the left) in 1518; and

All of these frescoes have recently been restored.
